I’d avoid this place. The problems started at the entrance: the front door was out of order, so access meant going through a dark rear car park beside the bins. The lift was also marked out of order, and my room code was for the third floor, up two flights of stairs. My knees couldn’t manage another trip up there later. The first room was unusable for me. The toilet was squeezed into a gap of roughly 40cm between the shower and wall, so I could barely fit in. I went back to reception, where the night manager spent about 15 minutes looking for another option, then offered a room he described as “dirty.” It smelled strongly of takeaway curry and had crisp packets and takeaway trays scattered around. He said he could tidy it and have it properly cleaned the next day, but that didn’t seem like a workable fix. I had to prompt him to consider a double room. He said it would cost extra and that only the manager, who’d be in the next day, could approve a free upgrade. I wasn’t willing to pay more after all this. I checked the website and saw that a double was only £27 more for the two nights, but he still said he wasn’t allowed to move me. After about an hour at reception, I said I’d found somewhere else and asked for a refund. He said their policy didn’t allow refunds. I also pointed out that my booking said the room had a bathtub, and the website showed one in the single-room listing, but neither room offered to me had a bath. A few minutes later he gave me another room code, again for the third floor. I booked another hotel instead, and that was the best decision I made that weekend. I slept well in a queen-size bed there. I made the mistake of returning the next morning to discuss the refund with the manager. He was unpleasant, unsympathetic, and unprofessional. If I can save someone else from staying here, I’ve done my job as an independent reviewer.

After several stays at Dancenter East Midlands Airport / Aston Court Derby City Centre by Belvilla that had gone well, I had two consecutive visits that were handled very badly. I can’t recommend the hotel now. On the first visit, my assigned room wasn’t ready at check-in, so I was moved to another one. When I came back from work the next day, my belongings had been taken out of the room without any warning, call, email, or explanation. My luggage was eventually returned, but my shirts had been bundled carelessly and my tube of toothpaste was missing. Reception first said the hotel didn’t provide toothpaste. When I explained it was mine, they said they’d ask housekeeping. I never heard back, and it wasn’t found. I contacted customer service right away and was promised a formal reply within 48 hours. Nothing came. I had another stay booked for the following week and gave them a chance to deal with the complaint. Instead, the same receptionist who had “witnessed” my belongings being removed confronted me in the hallway and claimed I’d called staff “robbers.” I never said that. I had only asked about my missing item after my things were taken without my consent. I still have no explanation, resolution, or compensation for the disruption and treatment. I also haven’t been given access to the internal communications they apparently sent about my complaint. This showed me a lack of accountability and training in responding to a legitimate guest concern. Until they take guests’ privacy, belongings, and concerns seriously, I’d suggest staying elsewhere.

We made a last-minute choice to stop here while travelling around England. The suite was lovely, with a large room, bathroom, and TV. A very friendly, helpful receptionist welcomed us. We parked in the car park next door for £9 for 24 hours, and it was an easy walk into the centre for dinner.

My business trip plans were thrown into chaos when the hotel cancelled the two rooms I’d booked. Around 11:00 AM on check-in day, I got a bank notification showing the payment, then an email with the payment details and a last-minute note saying they couldn’t provide the rooms. The reason was vague, and there’d been no earlier warning, phone call, or apology. I spent hours trying to reach the hotel and Booking.com without an answer. Booking.com eventually told me the hotel had cancelled, but gave no explanation or compensation. They promised the refund within 48 hours; four days later, I still hadn’t received it, and nobody had followed up. I had to find emergency accommodation at the last minute, which was another nightmare and cost me time and money. The whole thing was stressful and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend either the hotel or Booking.com to anyone who needs reliability.

My booking, along with 15 other rooms, was cancelled on arrival day without any notice. Staff showed no care and just blamed Booking.com. I was left scrambling to find somewhere to sleep that night. Avoid.
