The secure, easy parking was a real help on a work trip, and the on-site Tesla charger is handy if you drive an EV. There’s just one, and it’s a slower 3kW charger limited to 50% current, priced at £10 for five hours or £20 overnight. My room at the Cawdor Hotel in Llandeilo was spotless and comfortable, with a modern, well-kept bathroom. I was travelling alone for business and found the stay very welcoming. I’d happily return.

The front rooms can be noisy because of the traffic, which was the one downside. Otherwise, we had a great stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was a very high standard. Breakfast was very good, and for dinner we enjoyed a fish cake, burger and shepherd’s pie, all tasty and made with local ingredients. The woman serving us in the restaurant was excellent.

We had a late lunch and sat by the lounge bay window, watching the world go by. Adam welcomed us warmly, served drinks, and brought a delicious beef sandwich with coleslaw and a side salad.

We left after waiting about 10 minutes to be seated at The Cawdor. It wasn’t very busy, but the sign said to wait, and we felt ignored while three staff members chatted together. My partner and I went elsewhere for food. As a business owner, I’d never let staff stand around talking while customers wait for no reason. It gives a poor impression and loses custom.

The main dining room feels like a big canteen compared with the bar, and could use something on the walls to give it the same ambience. Still, the food was great and nicely presented, and the staff were attentive. I’ll be back.
