The bedrooms and bathroom were lovely, the beds comfortable, and the upstairs decor really suited the house. The heating worked efficiently and the shower was great. The cottage itself is in a lovely area, but downstairs felt tired and cluttered. There were too many chairs and bits and pieces, with a jumble of student-style tables and chairs. Clearing some of it out would make the place feel much more homely. The glossy coffee table set felt wrong for the age of the house, and its sharp corners made getting around the lounge tricky. The settee had a big tear, and the dining area had a very dated storage unit. There was also a bad leak from the flat roof during heavy rain, though I’m sure that may be hard to avoid. Bring logs if you want a cosy open fire on the first night. It’s a lovely place that could use some TLC.

Silva is a lovely house. I’ve stayed in Menai Cottages properties for years and have never been disappointed. They have a great choice of places across the region, with high standards, good locations, and dog-friendly options.

Bird lovers will enjoy the location, and the cottage itself is really lovely in a beautiful setting. It’s nicely decorated and well equipped, with excellent facilities. The shower in the garden was a nice surprise.

The area is lovely, but the rental felt expensive and better value is available elsewhere. The place was okay, though small. Access is along a very narrow lane, which is normal for Anglesey, and getting into the driveway to park is tight. A large car would have a hard time, though it isn’t impossible.
