We’ve been coming back now and then for 40 years. The setting is special, and the staff are lovely. The food’s a big part of it too, beautifully prepared both in the hotel and at the more relaxed Tower restaurant next door to the fantastic Spa retreat. Booking online is easy, and communication with reception is excellent. They have kennels for our dogs, and some rooms accept them too. Being here just makes your heart sing :))

The lake views at sunrise and sunset were spectacular, and the hotel sits on a slope in a really beautiful spot. It has an older feel in places, but that gave it character and didn’t take away from our weekend. We felt welcome throughout, thanks to the attentive staff. The food was delicious and well prepared at every meal, and the cozy pub was a nice place for a drink or an informal bite. We had a lovely, relaxing getaway and would happily come back. It’s a great choice for a scenic weekend away with good food and a welcoming atmosphere.

We booked at the last minute on Friday for a family trip with our 3-year-old and our dog. The arrangements for the stay, check-in, and dinner and breakfast reservations all went smoothly, and everyone was so welcoming. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with good heating, water and a nice shower. Dinner on the first night was fine dining at its best, and the food was overwhelmingly great. Breakfast had a huge choice of hot and cold options, so there was nothing we felt was missing. Staff gave us useful, detailed suggestions for places to visit nearby. Check-out was easy, and there was plenty of parking. We’d love to come back soon!

We came a couple of days before a wedding, and the lake view was one I could never tire of. The staff were wonderful, all so friendly and willing to help. Jacob went above and beyond, and James did a fantastic job looking after the wedding. The food was really good too. I’m looking forward to returning.

The restaurant was the one letdown. Service was slow, and some requests weren’t met. I couldn’t tell whether they were short staffed. Apart from that, it was a great overnight stay in a lake view room. The view was incredible, and the room was huge, with fabulous period furniture. Even the bathroom was as big as my kitchen! We’ll be repeating the stay. 😁
