Highland Basecamp

The shared space is roomy, with chairs and comfortable couches, and there are two fully equipped kitchens. Our room had its own toilet and shower, plus a very comfy bunk bed. It’s only seconds from the ferry, which runs every 45 minutes, and there’s a small shop and even petrol just around the corner. A fantastic family stay.

Room 2 was small but very clean, with the essentials, comfortable bunk beds, underfloor heating, and a great view from the door. We spent three nights at Highland Basecamp and were pleasantly surprised by the facilities and the owners’ hospitality. Dave welcomed us right away and even gave us a lift to the wedding we were attending when rain started at the top of the hill. The lockbox made check-in and checkout quick and easy. The shared kitchen was excellent. We could store chilled and frozen food and cook proper meals using the pots, pans, and utensils provided. The shelf of shared oils and seasonings came in handy too. We’d definitely recommend staying here in Lochaline and would return.

The communal kitchen and lounge are really spacious and well equipped, and there’s a big deck where you can sit and take in the view. I had a very enjoyable stay here with my dog. The rooms are small, with bunk beds, but they’re cosy and comfortable, and have an ensuite wet room.

A really great place to stay. The kitchen had everything anyone could need, and I liked how it felt communal but still organised. I’ll definitely come back!
