Morag was so welcoming and helpful, and her cooking was superb at dinner and breakfast. It’s a beautiful little B&B, exquisitely decorated, comfortable and welcoming. A fabulous stay, a real gem.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with cereal, fruit and yogurt first, then cooked food made to order, plus plenty of tea and toast. Morag was thoughtful about how we liked everything and was a warm, chatty host. Great craic! We only stayed one night to split the drive south to Yorkshire after a holiday farther north in Scotland. Hightae b&b is a few miles from Lockerbie, along narrow country lanes, but that short drive was well worth it. There’s level parking right beside the building. Our room was comfortable, and we could use the cozy ground-floor sitting rooms and dining area whenever we wanted. The stylish interior brings modern facilities into a beautifully preserved former village inn. We hadn't realized how high the standard would be, or how welcoming the owner, Morag, would be. If we’d known, we’d have visited sooner. We’ve already recommended it to several people and will look to stay again on a future trip to or from Scotland.

Morag is lovely, both as a host and a cook, and the place is very clean and nicely furnished. It’s peaceful but still close to Lockerbie. As others have said, it’s a little gem, and we’d happily stay again if we get the chance.

The food was brilliant, the accommodation was wonderful, and we had a great experience. We’ve stayed here before, a few years ago, and were looked after really well on both visits. It’s a lovely inn to stop at on the way to the Highlands, and we’ll definitely stay again when we’re in the area.

There’s plenty to see within a short drive, though you do need a vehicle to make the most of the rural location. It also makes a good stop if you’re heading farther into Scotland. We had our first stay at Hightae Inn last weekend and are already planning another visit. Morag made us feel very well looked after, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The room and facilities were very clean and in good shape. Both the included breakfast and the evening meal were delicious. Highly recommended.
