The rooftop bar was great, and the location felt safe. Most places were about a 20ish bus or tube ride away. The room was a little small but a good size for two people. I stayed with a friend from January 5th to January 15th, and we absolutely loved the hotel. The buffet ran from 7am -11 am each morning and cost about 22 pounds per person, which was such a delight. The staff were attentive and kind. On our last day, they let us get a coffee from the buffet free of charge. Shoutout to Liam, who was especially kind to us.
The hotel is handy for Covent Garden, with everything nearby reachable in a few minutes and convenient metro access. The rooms are a decent size. But after several stays over the last 3 years, I've seen the quality clearly decline, and it no longer feels worth the price with so much competition around. Check-in is fully automated now, with a staff member beside you just to point at the tablet. At 4 pm, it said my room wasn't ready, so staff had to override the system and find another room. There wasn't a tablet or phone in the room for room service. I went to the “reception” to order, but was told they couldn't do it and someone would bring a tablet because the others were “taken away for maintenance.” It never came. The booking system also charges whichever card is on file, even if you specify a different one when booking, which makes it unclear when and how you'll be billed. On top of that, the fire alarm went off at 2 AM, and apparently test alarms have repeatedly happened during my stays over the last two weeks.
We had a generally good two-night family stay at Amano Covent Garden London over Christmas 2025. The room was modern, clean and well kept. For a central London hotel, the size was practical: two people could comfortably fit one large and one small suitcase. The location is excellent for sightseeing, with many major attractions within walking distance. Breakfast had a good spread and was a convenient start to the day, especially given how expensive eating out in London is. Service was efficient and standard, nothing exceptional but adequate for a short city visit. We found it comfortable and pleasant, and would consider returning. One important FYI: don't respond to WhatsApp messages asking you to verify a hotel booking. We later confirmed it was a scam, and the issue was rectified.
The room was glorious, bright, comfortable and stylish without trying too hard. We slept well, appreciated the late checkout, and found the staff warm and welcoming every time we dealt with them. The hotel isn't cheap, with the cost edging into what a chauffeured trip to Brighton and back the next day might cost, but it was worth it. The roof-top bar was a handy bonus. We were in London for a mid-week double-theatre treat. Normally we'd have rushed home to Brighton, but it was lovely to stay up, wander late and take in the atmosphere instead of catching trains. The stay also came with an unexpected spark of inspiration: the amenity kit had exactly three Q-tips and three circular tissue pieces. Maybe minimalist chic, maybe cryptic poetry, I'm still unsure, but that little trio gave me a brilliant Christmas present idea. Follow me on Medium or YouTube if you want to hear what it inspired. Hotel AMANO added something special to the trip, and we'd happily stay again when pairing Covent Garden with another theatre double-bill.
The location was amazing for Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Covent Garden. I had a cosy room for one night, small but equipped with what I needed, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower and bathroom were lovely, breakfast was very nice with a good food selection, and the customer service was amazing.
