We couldn’t get into the place without calling, and even then it took three calls. Once inside, light kept coming through the ill-fitting door from the hall all night, switching on and off. The mattress was practically nonexistent, with springs digging into us, and the pillow was flat as a pancake. The windows might as well not have been there either, since we heard everything happening in the street all night.
