Lindal

For the price, the Lindal is good value. The staff are friendly, and my room included breakfast. There’s free wifi, and the water was hot on both occasions I showered. The building is a bit maze-like and could do with repairs. It’s not pretty, but it’s affordable.

Booking.com was the reason I think I got reimbursed at all. I reserved three days in July 2019 and later cancelled, but after taking the original payment, the hotel kept withdrawing money from my account until the total was nearly £5000. I kept calling, leaving messages and emailing, and nobody ever got back to me. I’ve still never heard from them. It was very, very unprofessional, and I think the place should be closed down.

We were booked in after a long drive and a hard shift, but left and drove four hours home. I’d sooner have spent the night in a cellar. I have photos of the two rooms my colleague and I were put in. The shower was the dirtiest thing I’ve ever seen, the skirting boards and window sills were rotten and black, the carpets had big stains, and the ceilings were covered in wet patches. These reviews are disgusting, and the rooms are too.

We only stopped for one night, and the room was clean enough for that. Breakfast came with our rate, arrived promptly and tasted quite good. The hotel itself is pretty run down and needs maintenance.
