Mitre House Hotel

The hotel has some charm and is fine for a few days, though it looks dated and tired. The washrooms could use a good scrub, especially the tiles. Standard twin rooms are small, so if you can, splurge on a bigger room. The staff are very friendly, and breakfast is decent enough to get you going, even if the food gets repetitive. I’ve stayed here twice over the last few years. It’s a good location if you’re travelling on a budget and want somewhere central, away from crowds but near many metro lines and bus routes. Have breakfast at the hotel, then grab coffee at one of the many nearby cafes. Some compromises needed. :)

Breakfast was adequate, and the staff would refill it and bring more food when asked. The price is decent for the location, but don’t expect much. The room felt cramped for four of us, two young kids and two adults.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Paddington Station, where there’s a direct train to Heathrow that takes only 20mins. Staff are friendly, the room is clean and tidy, and the cooked breakfast is adequate.

The rooms are clean and small, which is fine, and the hotel is a little dated but not shabby. Breakfast is okay. The ladies in the breakfast room and the guys at the desk in the afternoon are wonderful. It’s a clean option if you just need a bed and bathroom, and the location close to Paddington Station is great. The downside is that you have to hand in your room key every time you leave, then come back through one door to retrieve it. The day manager is a bit like a dorm mom and watches you like a hawk.
