Native Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a minute away, Paddington and the Elizabeth Line are about three minutes on foot, and you can walk to Mayfair or the West End too. The neighbourhood may seem less fashionable, but we thought it was brilliant. This is a great no-frills place if you're after the essentials: a clean room, a pleasant setting, and a useful location. There's no breakfast or service extras, and you shouldn't expect a concierge or hands-on attention. That's not what you're paying for.

The location was handy for walking to eateries, amenities, galleries, and museums. The furnishings looked stylish, especially in the lobby, and the bedding and towels were good quality. The staff change on Friday was a welcome one, as the new staff were much nicer and more helpful. Our arrival was badly handled. We waited 15 minutes before anyone confirmed the room wasn't ready, despite having been messaged that it would be. We were shown to a drab little luggage room, with no porter to help, then moved to a different apartment between dropping off our bags and getting into our room later. The apartment wasn't clean. The bathroom felt grubby, with yellow staining around the toilet; there were handprints on the bedroom wall and suspicious liquid drips on the bed frame. We were on the lower ground floor in LG4, and heard a lot of traffic as well as noise from the apartment above. Cooking supplies were very basic, and we had to ask separately for a corkscrew. The bathroom extractor fan also got inexplicably louder over time.

The front-facing room gave us a great view, though evenings were noisy. Earplugs did the trick. The location made it easy to get to places of interest, and we'd be happy to return to Native Hyde Park. We had a fantastic three-night stay. Some things looked dated, including a chipped sink and tub and scratched or dented furniture, but the room was clean and well maintained.

I stayed for almost a week and would gladly come back. The hotel is attractive and well kept, and its location made getting around simple, about five minutes on foot from both Lancaster Gate and Paddington Underground stations. My room was around 30 square metres, a good size for one person and comfortable for two at most. Staff were friendly and professional. A special thanks to Adwan, the Arab staff member, who was exceptionally cooperative and helped me a lot. Most services, including room cleaning and laundry, are self-service, and breakfast isn't provided. Apart from that, everything was great.
