Oban Victoria Hotel

The room was so bad we left just two hours after arriving and paid extra to stay somewhere else. We asked for a refund for the two nights we hadn't used and still haven't heard back. To me, the hotel is scamming people by carrying on as usual despite the reviews, failing to clean the rooms, and not compensating guests. We'd read the reviews and almost cancelled, then contacted the hotel before our stay to ask about them. They never replied. The warnings were completely right. Our bedsheets had stains, hair, and mould; the carpet was filthy; and the kettle and toilet rolls in the bathroom had mould. The shower drain and pipe were so blocked that water flooded into the basin and sat there, making the shower unusable. Even the door lock didn't work. I expect the hotel to reply to this review, as it does to the others, but I'm sure it'll be AI generated 😂. If I could give zero stars, I would. For affordable London accommodation, we found more suitable places in Kensington and Earls Court. I hope anyone reading this cancels or avoids booking here.

There was grime stuck to the bin, and it was dusty and full of muck. When I pulled out the bedside table, I found old sweet wrappers, scraps of tinfoil, and an old room key behind it. The dirt under the black stand for the kettle was vile. I took the radiator off to dry my top, and it was coated in thick dust. There was plenty of dust on the window too. The list goes on. ABSOLUTE FILTH!!! There's no reception, and the phone number they give doesn't ring. I contacted Booking.com, and they agreed the place was disgusting, but they couldn't reach the hotel either. I never spoke to anyone until the morning we left. The man there couldn't have cared less. I've stayed in plenty of hotels, and this was by far the worst. I wouldn't recommend it, even if you were desperate. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

The location and price would make me recommend this hotel. My room was adequate, but there were a few problems: the water was cold, the toilet seat wasn't fitted properly, and the kettle only stayed on if I kept a finger on the lid. I guess you get what you pay for.

After travelling for 11 hours, I was too exhausted to find somewhere else, but this was the worst place I’ve stayed. I’d booked an ensuite and was first offered a room with a shared bathroom. The room was tiny, a socket was hanging off the wall, and the sheets were stained, so I slept on top of them. In the bathroom, your feet have to be in the shower to sit on the toilet. Getting in was a mess. They sent me four codes and none worked, including one for a completely different hotel in Scunthorpe. The emergency contact eventually sent someone, but that didn’t help. In the end, they gave me the engineer’s access code, which could have opened any room in the building. An absolute disgrace.
