The place felt intimidating and unsafe, and I would avoid it. The receptionist started recording me without my consent, so I began recording too to protect myself and my friend, who is a woman. Earlier, he had been rude and unprofessional from the start and seemed unable to do his job. He showed us a room with a disgusting smell. When I said I didn't like it and we would leave for another hotel, he offered a different room at the same price, £35. Nothing seemed to work properly. The TV and remote didn't work, the Wi-Fi was useless, and the room smelled bad. The walls were dirty and ripped, and the whole place was in shocking condition. We were charged as if it were a five-star hotel, but it felt like a scrapyard. When my friend went downstairs for food, the receptionist charged another £15 for no clear reason and couldn't explain it properly. I've never stayed in a worse hotel. I'm extremely pissed off and completely unsatisfied, and I'll never come back. It's disgusting and doesn't feel safe at all. I honestly think UK health and safety authorities should inspect it because it isn't fit for people to stay in. Terrible management and service, an absolutely horrible experience. Avoid at all costs.

Drilling went on until about 7pm, and there was lots of banging from below in the middle of the night. A guy also came wanting to enter my room at 7pm while I was resting, which interrupted my evening. The internet didn't work properly, so I couldn't check important emails. One of the guys spoke English so poorly I couldn't understand a word, and the staff didn't understand what autism is. If you have autism, don't go here. Better off paying to stay in Travelodge, much better. Don't waste your money here.

The location is quite good, and the rooms can be clean with bath facilities and more. There are a couple of rooms that are almost always available, 24/7. Reception is usually busy with its own stuff.

Some staff members were genuinely kind and helpful, and I do appreciate that. Still, the whole experience left me regretting the booking, and I'd suggest others think carefully before choosing this hotel. I'd emailed ahead and confirmed by phone that we'd drop off our luggage before check-in. I didn't have a local number, and when I tried calling the hotel on arrival, the staff member who answered sounded half-asleep and kept telling me to come back at 2 pm. We ended up waiting outside in very cold, windy, dark conditions. People were staring at us, and we felt uneasy and unsafe. Thankfully nothing happened, but guests shouldn't be put in that position after explaining their plans in advance.
