Premier Inn London Paddington - Paddington Station

The room was neat and clean, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious and nice for a 2-star hotel, with a large mirror. We booked a twin room and got one double bed and a sofa bed, both comfortable, though the room was too hot and we didn’t sleep well. The location across from Paddington Station is great for transport and shops. Wi-Fi was a struggle: phone signal disappeared as soon as we entered, the free connection barely worked, and paid Wi-Fi wasn’t much better. We had to buy Ultimate Wi-Fi by reception because it wouldn’t load in our room. There’s no fridge, the TV channels are basic, and toiletries are limited to hand wash and body wash. For a fairly cheap London room, the value felt about right, but I wouldn’t stay longer than one night.

The rooms are clean and Paddington Station is handy for transport, but the rest felt like an extreme budget stay. Staff were rarely around in the lobby, the internet was very slow, and there’s no fridge or microwave. The shower leaked onto the floor. The climate control was the worst part: you can only choose between no airflow and a little airflow, and it switches off every few hours, so I had to wake up in the night to turn it back on. You can’t set the temperature. Completely unacceptable.

I’ve stayed here for both work and leisure and had pleasant visits each time. It’s a new hotel, opened in July 2024, and was spotlessly clean when I stayed. The rooms are spacious, modern, and very clean, with baths, which is unusual for a Central London Premier Inn. The main downside is the very poor mobile signal, perhaps because of the building’s design. My phone struggled to connect, though Ultimate WI-FI was fast and worked extremely well. The location beside Paddington Station is great for rail connections, with an entrance to the Elizabeth Line opposite. I use it when I need to get a train to Maidenhead, for example. There are coffee shops nearby, but I usually use the station ones or head into Central London.

Even with such a central spot, the room was quiet and peaceful. Paddington Station is just a stone’s throw away, so the location is ideal. The staff were welcoming and pleasant, and we were offered a drink and chocolate when we arrived, a lovely touch. We didn’t eat at the hotel because we like finding local places when we travel, so we went out. After a long day on the road, we needed more tea supplies, and the station in the foyer was fully stocked. I’d happily stay again.
