The room was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable, but this felt like a hostel with a bigger room and bed. It’s a self-check-in and check-out place with a shared bathroom for three rooms, or six people. At £40 a night, even non-refundable, I don’t think it’s worth it. I usually come to East London from Brighton for business and have stayed at Cranbrook hotel for £32 a night. That was brilliant in every way. The room had a microwave, cupboard, small heater, fan, king-size bed, and bedside box. But the light was so bright and annoying, with no cover and no way to dim it. I hadn’t seen the shared-bathroom details, which may have been my mistake. If I’d noticed, I wouldn’t have paid £81 for two nights. There was no service, and some lads left the toilet in a mess. The sink was full of water and wouldn’t drain. It was a nightmare. I’m not going back.

It was a pleasure coming back to my ends after growing up in the area. The loft room was nice and suited our family of five, with an en-suite. Getting in via the key safe was easy, and there was off-street parking for one car.

I stayed there for a few nights, and groups of four or five young guys kept coming in. They played music and shouted all night, without paying attention to anyone.
