Royal Park Hotel

The noise made it impossible to get proper rest. You can hear everything through the thin walls and wooden floors, even the pipes. The place has terrible ventilation too. Good luck staying here in summer. I needed somewhere basic and clean in London for an event, for less than 24 hours. This was abysmal. I only stayed because it was non-refundable and I was too exhausted to move. The duvet had yellow stains and what looked like dried blood, and the pillow had a large yellow stain as well. When I showed the duvet and sheets to the receptionist, she got frustrated and said, “This is all we have.” I had to make three trips up and down the stairs, since there’s no lift, to sort out problems. Staff then made a sarcastic remark about me “having a difficult day.” It’s called a hotel, but it’s actually an apartment presented as one. Between the filth, poor soundproofing, and bad ventilation, I’d avoid it if hygiene, safety, sleep, or basic service matter to you. I’d give zero stars if I could.

The neighborhood was quiet and the locals were nice. Queensway is close by, with plenty of restaurants and cafes. It’s a comfortable, easy place to stay for a short London trip if you’re looking around Paddington or Hyde Park. The rooms are small, but the staff are happy to help you enjoy your stay. Suresh at reception was especially nice and made the whole stay feel much easier.

We had a wonderful time at Royal Park Hotel, and being near Hyde Park made it a great base for exploring London. Dear Maria at reception deserves a special thank you for her hospitality and professional support throughout our visit. She was helpful and quick to find solutions, which made our stay much more enjoyable. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone after central location and great service.

The checkout process was a mess. My colleagues and I asked for all three invoices to show our employer’s address, gave the receptionist the same address, and even wrote it down. She printed them incorrectly, shredded them, and said she’d email corrected versions that day. Four days later, after I followed up, she sent three invoices with different wrong addresses. I clarified again, but the addresses were still wrong, and mine even had the wrong employer name. It took several more exchanges and four days from the original request before we finally got accurate invoices. During this business trip with two colleagues, the room problems were hard to overlook. My room had greasy marks on the mirror, and the shower was tiny with only a flimsy curtain. Since the showerhead faced it, water flooded the bathroom each time. One colleague was first given a room with a circular mattress stain about 70 cm across that looked unmistakably like urine. The receptionist wouldn’t change the room or even acknowledge a stain. After several calls to the manager, he was moved, but the new room was only slightly cleaner. My other colleague’s room was so cramped that the bathroom door hit the bed and wouldn’t open or close fully. The bathroom was visibly worn and damaged, and the whole room felt rundown. Noise was another problem. I could hear every toilet flush in the hotel, and on my last night loud sounds from outside my room kept me awake. The adapters we asked for didn’t help either. One didn’t work, and the other had the same plug type as the hotel sockets. The location may be convenient for business, but the stay was poor. With cleanliness, cramped rooms, noise, useless amenities, and checkout handled so badly, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you need somewhere clean and quiet to rest after work.
