The Goodenough Hotel London

Olu was a huge help with my bags and found me a comfortable, quiet room. Sergio and the rest of the desk team were consistently kind and friendly, and reservations were quick to help sort out dates and a pleasant room. The hotel itself is lovely and peaceful, with access to the college library and dining hall. My room was a decent size for London, and the main building's wifi worked well for Zoom calls. I'd love to come back.

Breakfast was very good, and the private garden gave me a quiet spot away from London's busy streets. The reception staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Goodenough Hotel in Bloomsbury was a great base, quiet and charming but still within easy reach of central attractions. My room was tidy, comfortable, and well looked after, so it was relaxing to return to after a day out. A lovely hotel with a calm feel and great service. I'd happily stay again.

We left after two nights and won't be back. Check recent reviews before booking in summer. Our seven night booking was made on the hotel's own website, which only offers a third party booking engine. When the room reached 30°C, with the London forecast heading into the 40s, we raised the issue with staff during the stay. Even so, the hotel refused to offer flexibility on cancellation, blaming the third party, although that's the only way to book through their site. The same explanation was given when we tried to get the alumni discount advertised through the affiliated college. Guests booking through the hotel's site can't actually access it. The hotel also seems to have no real plan for extreme heat. Recent reviews describe the same issue, with guests leaving early because rooms are unsafe. Don't penalize guests for leaving, or suggest in review replies that we never spoke up. We did.

The location is peaceful, around a 20 minute walk from a train station and close to many sights in the center. I liked the hotel's English feel and would stay again, it felt more like a small English house than a chain. Our first floor room was clean, though a little small, and we could hear footsteps from upstairs. The bathroom was small too, but beautiful and functional, and everything worked. We didn't have breakfast included, so I can't comment on it. I wish it had been included, though separate breakfast charges are common at four star hotels. We were there in December, so I can't say how the air conditioning is.
