The Pride of Paddington

We popped in for something to eat and had fish and chips and mac and cheese. The food was good, Aish was a great server, and the pub felt lively, fun and welcoming. Just right for a pub.

The food made the night for me. I had sausage and mash for dinner, proper comfort food, then dippy eggs with sourdough toast for breakfast, cooked just right. I was at Pride of Paddington for one night while attending an event with Campari Academy, and had a lovely stay. The staff were warm and welcoming from beginning to end, so I felt relaxed straight away. It’s a great spot for an overnight stay in London, with a great atmosphere and service. I’d happily come back.

I expected a tourist trap because of where this pub is, but it surprised me. The beer selection was good, and the food was decent. I had the fish and chips. They weren’t the best around, but were perfectly acceptable. I’d recommend it if you’re in Paddington.

Friday night was extremely crowded, with loads of kids there when we arrived. That’s fine if you don’t mind a busy place, but if kids aren’t your thing, maybe skip it. Finding a table was a challenge; once we did, the service was decent. Two beers cost $22, which felt pretty outrageous. The fish was good, but honestly the chips were the worst I’ve had in the UK. The sticky toffee pudding was only okay. There are double doors at the front, but they leave the first one open, so sit by the doors if you want to freeze. People were constantly coming and going to smoke. Sorry.
