I booked Sonder (Central London) through Airbnb and got a self-check-in code. When I arrived and went into the room, someone else’s belongings were already there. Sonder had double-booked the room and hadn’t told me. It was distressing to unknowingly enter someone else’s occupied space, and it raises a serious health and safety concern. They cancelled my reservation on the spot, leaving me with nowhere to stay that night. I’d paid Airbnb, but the hotel charged my card directly as well. After more than 10 days of calls and follow-ups, I eventually got that refund. Then, on the very same day, Sonder charged me another £169 without permission and with no active booking. It’s been another 10 business days and I’m still waiting for that money back. The lack of accountability, transparency, and basic customer care has been unacceptable. Sonder needs to review its booking system, refund process, and safety practices. This property shouldn’t be operating under these conditions.

The room was easy and convenient to access, and the accommodation was very pleasant and comfortable. It stayed consistently warm inside. The owner was responsive and supportive, dealing with my questions and requests promptly and effectively.

The room and bed were nice, but the heat and noise made our planned two-night stay too uncomfortable, so we left early. It was November and the heating was off, yet the building felt stuffy and hot. The windows only opened a couple of inches, and we had to shut them because pub noise and smoke came in. Once the pub closed at 11pm, it got quieter. If warmth or music you can feel through the room bothers you, this may not suit you.

We arrived to a room with no towels, a mouth guard left on the table, and toilets that wouldn't flush properly. Staff brought towels and a small fan later, but nobody addressed the state of the room we'd found. The weather was lovely, over 20°, but the room became unbearable with no ventilation. There were only around four lockers, all taken before we got there at 9am. Before check-in, the only thing available was a water cooler, and the so-called essentials room had just tea. Left a bit disappointed.
