The Royal Horseguards Hotel

The location is excellent, and the accommodations are beautiful, around a four-plus rating for me. Service felt more like three-star, though, despite the five-star prices. The mini fridge with drinks and snacks wasn't regularly stocked as promised. There was only one water in one of our rooms on arrival. We asked on the first day and were told someone would come, asked again that night with the same result, then got no response the second day. I raised it with the manager and it was finally sorted. Requests at the front desk took hours, if they arrived at all. The terrace restaurant looked nice, but the hostess wouldn't leave her stand to check whether a table was available, so we couldn't try it. The staff and management don't justify a five-star rating. Until The Royal Horseguards Hotel staff get more customer-facing training, I'd spend the money at another local hotel for the same location and a better experience.

The staff made us feel special every day. Perez, the doorman, gave us a wonderful first impression, and the front desk and concierge were top notch. Javier even gave our group a private tour of the historic hotel and took photos of us. There was also a lobby trolley with different sweets each day. Our room was beautiful, and the fridge was restocked daily with items included in the room. The bathroom had thoughtful touches like heated floors and a heated towel rack. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed afternoon tea with friends, the menu was great. I can't say enough good things. We felt spoiled and will only stay here in the future.

Embankment was the closest Underground station, and the hotel was well placed for sightseeing, restaurants, and getting around. The Royal Horseguards felt clean, cozy, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Staff were kind and accommodating, even offering umbrellas to borrow on rainy days. Our twin standard room was clean, had fresh AC, comfortable beds, and hot water. We had an awesome stay, and I'd highly recommend it.

The location made it easy to walk to lots of things to see and do. Check-in was friendly, staff were attentive, and the people serving us drinks in the bay were helpful too. Our room was a good size and had what we needed, including a comfortable bed with lovely linen, nice toiletries, and a separate bath and shower. We thought there was no kettle or tea setup, until my partner found it in a drawer just before we left. We'd even gone out early for a cuppa, assuming the hotel only offered coffee American-style. I also didn't spot the mirror until we were leaving. A sign or some note about where these things are would help. Aside from that, it was lovely, and we'd definitely stay again.
