The location worked really well for us, with an easy walk to the tube and a nearby park for a stroll on a sunny day. Check-in was smooth and parking convenient. The service was good too: when I mentioned the room hadn’t been properly serviced, with a full bin and dirty surfaces, staff immediately offered to sort it. Otherwise, the room was pleasant enough.

The room was spacious and everything else at the hotel was fine, but I wouldn’t recommend the boxed breakfast. It comes with cereal, pain aux chocolate, flapjack and milk. I’d have gone to the eagle instead, since it opens at 8am. The location is lovely, though I was surprised that the eagle carvery next door bar shuts at 9:30pm on a Saturday. People came in asking for a drink and were turned away, including me.

The parking situation was especially frustrating. I entered my car’s registration on the designated device each time, but still got a parking fine. The car park authority told me an “admission fee” was required, and I still don’t understand what that means. It feels like a real scam. I stayed for three days, and the bedsheets weren’t changed and the bin wasn’t emptied the whole time. Noise from the pub next door was excessive and made it much less comfortable. I’m dissatisfied with several parts of the stay.

It was easy to get into central London from the nearby Central line, and parking was available from arrival day, even before check-in, through midnight on departure day. That was great. The staff were friendly, and the room had tea and coffee with a mug for each of us, all four, which was nice. The upper floor rooms get stiflingly hot in summer. The windows only open about three inches to stop people jumping, so there’s barely any air coming in. With four people in the small room, it was a sweaty, unpleasant stay. The room was fairly clean, but there were green marks on the bedding, which I’m assuming were bleach, and hoping so, and the bathroom floor was pretty grim in the corners. They provided shower gel and soap, but both seemed watered down, so they went everywhere when the kids used them. The shower itself was rubbish, with the temperature going up and down.
