The Old Foundry, Long Melford

We enjoyed lunch so much that we came back for dinner. At lunch, the root vegetable soup came with a large wedge of lovely fresh bread, and my husband’s smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich was tasty and generously filled. That evening, my green risotto was perfect for me, and his fish and chips was a large portion, very fresh and tasty. The service was excellent and friendly. We’ll definitely return when we’re in the area again.

The beds were comfortable, and the maid service came every day. Breakfasts were excellent, and the staff were lovely, though this old pub is looking a bit tired and some areas need redecorating. It’s well placed for visiting Long Melford and nearby places like Lavenham and Sudbury.

Whenever I visit long Melford to see my dad, we always eat at the Crown. The food is superb every time, and the service is friendly and professional. It’s a highly recommended place to eat if you’re in long Melford.

The rooms are comfortable, but they’re worn and tired, much like the rest of the hotel, and the shower keeps switching between hot and cold. Breakfast is good, and it’s good value for the area. The location is great, right in the middle of Long Melford, though the decor is tired and worn.
