Golf View Hotel

We liked our dog-friendly family room so much the first time that we booked the same one again. It has a double bed and a single, a bath and shower, plus a small kitchen area with a microwave, toaster, kettle, plates, bowls, cups, glasses and cutlery. It's spotless and comfortable. Sitting at the little table by the window, looking out at the view, is a lovely way to relax. On our two stays in the annex, we had fabulous views over the golf course and out to sea. We'd first visited a few years ago just to eat in the dog-friendly part of the restaurant, where the food was always very good and the staff friendly. The food is still excellent, and the staff remain friendly and helpful.

Whenever I'm in the area, this hotel will be my first choice. I spent five days here while working nearby, and the service from both the hotel and restaurant staff was perfect. The bar staff were professional and made us feel very welcome, too. The place has had a lot of money spent on it recently, and the rooms are spotless and good quality. The food is fantastic, and the hotel staff were accommodating. What more do you need?

We came as a family group with young children and enjoyed the attentive service, broad food selection and well-stocked bar. The coastline views are panoramic, and there's a lovely raised terrace outside for watching the sun go down. We weren't staying overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms.

The views are stunning, and the staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming. We didn't complain because they were so lovely, and some seemed quite young, so we didn't feel comfortable saying we weren't happy with the meal. But we left food unfinished and won't return. I had the chilli chicken main, though I can't remember its exact name. The chips were okay, but the batter was so greasy I couldn't taste the chicken at all. It could have been battered fish for all I knew. My wife had steak loaded fries, but I took one mouthful and turned it down. The steak was overdone, and the sauce added little taste, though the cheese was strong. We also shared chilli chicken wings to start. The sauce was nice and spicy, but there seemed to be more batter than chicken. We had two Cokes and a Fanta, and the bill came to over £59, not counting travel. We live in Forres, so it isn't far, but we'd sooner have a barbecue on the beach than eat there again. Sorry to be honest here instead of in person.
