The Cedars Hotel

The owner even brought out a bowl of water for their dog, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was lovely, and the service was outstanding. My little grandson could run around the garden and watch the steam trains go by, while we all got to meet up. I'll remember that first meeting after lockdown. It was my first time seeing my daughter and her family here. The night before, my husband called the Ceder Hotel to ask about using the pub. A lovely young woman explained the criteria, and he booked us a table outside in the garden. When we arrived, a gentleman came out to tell us what would happen. My husband went inside to order drinks, and the owner explained that the restaurant wasn't due to open until Thursday. They were doing takeaways, but since we'd called, they opened up just for our meeting. I totally recommend this place.

The food was disgusting and overpriced. There was a hair in my £13 burger, and all they offered me was a free drink. The bathroom smelled a bit and had mould on the walls, and the soap dispenser was empty. Service was very slow, though the waiter was quite polite, to be fair. Worst hotel I've ever been to.

The manager was very rude and abrupt when I spoke to them, but the other staff were pleasant. The morning staff in particular made a very good cooked breakfast. The room itself was a complete disgrace, dated and very small. Its bathroom window had no blind or curtain and looked straight onto the car park.

The walls were paper thin, so we could hear everything going on, and the bathrooms stank of mould. We had no hand soap either. The service was awful: we were told food would take half an hour, then waited more than an hour. The portions were tiny for £13, and the food was disgusting. The pasta was undercooked, the veg tasted tinned, and the burger bun was burnt. We even found a hair in the burger, and they offered only a free drink as compensation. We won't be back.
