The pub had a cosy, homely feel, with a log burner going, and it was spotless. We went for my dad’s 60th birthday, and Dave and Leah made the occasion feel special. They run the pub so well, and were welcoming and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The homemade Sunday dinner was fresh and full of flavour, and the pudding was to die for. We couldn’t fault the experience and will definitely be back.

A pint of Butcombes from the very good beer selection went perfectly with lunch. I had the sausage goulash special, which was delicious, spicy but not too hot, and a generous portion. The fish and chips were lovely too, with crispy batter and well-cooked chips. It was quiet midweek, and mine host gave us friendly service. A good place for lunch.

We’ll come back midweek to try some different menus. On our first visit to the Star at West Leak, on a Sunday in December, the food was tasty, nicely presented, and there was plenty on the plate. It wasn’t cheap, but it was worth every penny. Compliments to the chef. Thank you, can’t wait to return.

We’ll be back. The food was just right, and the efficient staff brought it to the table professionally, with smiles throughout our visit. We held our Christmas walk for 14 family and friends in the West Leake area this year and reserved a group table at The Star. Leah, Dave, the landlords, and their team were brilliant. Well done, and regards from Jules and the other 13 of us. Xx

The pie and sticky toffee pudding are definitely worth trying. I met up with friends for Saturday lunch, and the food was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was really good, and the lovely peaceful setting was perfect for catching up. Thanks for a lovely lunch. I’ll visit again next time I’m in the area.
