CiTi Hotel London Luton

The staff we spoke with were all incredibly pleasant, and the heatwave itself was outside the hotel’s control. But the ventilation in our windowless room was so poor that we barely slept, waking after only a few minutes drenched in sweat and boiling hot. On top of that, a group kept going out for cigarettes every hour from 10pm until 2 or 3 in the morning, making plenty of noise each time. We left more tired than when we arrived, after staying the night before an early flight. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Until the air conditioning is seriously improved, I’d suggest staying elsewhere.

It’s a budget friendly place near the train station, and the desk staff were pleasant. For the price I wasn’t expecting much, and would’ve been completely happy if the sink hadn’t been blocked and full of water when we arrived. We were exhausted from travelling, so we made do and went to sleep. Someone may have forgotten to sort it out. There was a bit of a cigarette smell around the hotel too. I do recommend it for a brief, budget friendly stay.

I was put in another room the next morning, but only after a very upsetting night. The toilet in the room I was first given was blocked, and nobody had told me. I had diarrhea, and when I flushed it, the toilet overflowed and became completely blocked. I called reception for help, but the man on duty Sunday night, 24 May 2026, was rude and aggressive. He shouted at me, spoke disrespectfully and told me to stay in my room. He said he couldn’t change the room and there wouldn’t be any clean ones until the housekeeper came the next day, so I should use the bathroom near reception if I needed a toilet. His behavior and tone frightened me, and I felt unsafe. I came close to calling the police because of how loudly he was yelling. I’ll attach a photo of the blocked toilet.

Room 119 was very clean and tidy, and I liked how hot the shower got. But the front spotlights shine straight into the bedroom, and the blackout blind is too small for the glass, so light still pours in. The bright green emergency light above the door was intrusive too. I covered that one with a pair of boxers, which helped. The photo shows my room at 9pm on a night in March.
