The room was clean and the bedding was very soft. At check-in last night, the gentleman was lovely and helpful, and told me where I could find a shop. For what I paid, the quality was good. I just missed having a little kettle, a cup, and a tea or coffee bag.

The location worked really well for us, with transport and a big shopping centre close by. We spent two nights here while going to the theatre in London, and it met our needs for a short trip. It’s a budget hotel, so you know what to expect. Our window room was small but perfectly adequate for two adults. The bedroom, bathroom, and everything else were clean and fresh. Staff were friendly and very helpful with our questions, and late checkout was no problem. I’m happy to recommend it.

I paid extra for a window, but it was a waste of money and time. The room was extremely small, and hygiene was awful, with horrible stains on the mirrors and a sticky floor. The hotel says in the room that bookings made on its website and paid for at a higher rate might have been cleaned. I also paid for late checkout, but staff rudely opened the door without knocking or warning because they hadn’t recorded that I’d paid for it. Then they started arguing.

I got maybe two hours of sleep, at best. There was heavy bass from the pub across the road, which was open until 2 am, plus a screaming baby and adults shouting in the next room from 1 am to 3 am. I understand the pub noise isn’t the hotel’s fault, but if they claim quiet hours from 11 pm to 7 am, the listing should mention the pub. It should also make clear that a room with a window doesn’t mean the window opens. Mine was welded shut, with no air conditioning, so the room was hot and stuffy all night. The shower was barely a dribble, with no pressure, so we couldn’t get proper showers. The only good thing was access to an iron. Honestly, I’d have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. The room and corridors smelled of cigarettes, and by morning the smell near the lift was overwhelming. The room wasn’t clean either. At check-in, the staff member shoved a paper in front of me and said “sign.” When I asked what I was signing, he just repeated “sign” without explaining. In the morning, there was nobody at reception when I wanted to raise my concerns. I was so angry and exhausted that I decided to deal with it later. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend the place. Given the conditions, I don’t think it should be allowed to call itself a hotel. It’s more like a hostel, or somewhere that should be free.
