North Bank House

We never got to stay at North Bank House. After we’d paid in full, the owner cancelled us and took another booking. We’d already booked flights, arranged cars and made plans around a very special family occasion, all in good faith. They offered another nearby house, but it wasn’t suitable and wasn’t to the same standard. A different date wouldn’t have worked or served the purpose of our trip. We were left disappointed and deflated, though eventually we did get an apology. Trips like this take a lot of planning, especially with older relatives, long distances and family commitments involved. We hope this doesn’t happen to others. You’ll most likely have a lovely time, but be aware you could be cancelled if systems fail or perhaps a more lucrative booking comes in. Book with your eyes open. We wish you better luck than we had.

The house was cosy and fun to stay in, and the games room was outstanding. A truly amazing experience, though we couldn’t always get hot water.

Really tacky decor, with a horrible late 90s look. It feels like whoever put it together mistook John Lewis for good taste.

The decor is impressive, and the house itself is beautiful and clean. There’s a shop nearby, which is handy. The heating only comes on at certain times, though, so it can be cold by noon. Also, the owner of the apartment across the street takes too much interest in what’s happening in the house during your stay.
