The apartment put us right in the middle of Lynton, just a short stroll from the cliff railway, which came in handy for that steep climb. We stayed in the CS Lewis Balcony apartment, and the balcony was such a treat that we sat out there at all hours. Inside, there were two king bedrooms, a bathroom with an en-suite shower and a separate shower room, plus a modern kitchen with everything we needed. The beds were huge and comfy, and there were plenty of fluffy white towels. The dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid; we sorted it ourselves, though it might be worth checking those regularly. We enjoyed exploring both Lynton and Lynmouth. From Lynmouth, trails lead to Watersmeet, where there’s a café by the waterfalls, and the town looks out over the Bristol Channel. Our walk from Lynton took us along the Valley of Rocks, where we met the goats. There are lots of nice cafés, pubs and places to eat. The Ancient Mariner in Lynmouth served a gorgeous roast with a smile, and The Crown in Lynton had enormous fish and chips, jokingly dubbed “shark and chips.” Both had good gluten-free options. We also had a great evening at the Lynton Cinema, where we caught Downton Abbey - The Finale.

We stayed in the Bayview Tower and loved finding this place. The views are wonderful, and having private parking right in central Lynton was a real bonus. Everything was spotless and well equipped, and it was peaceful around the other guests. It’s self-catering, so I can’t comment on service, but there’s really nothing to fault unless you’re determined to nitpick.

The front windows look out over the water, and the property is very conveniently placed in Lynton. Parking was easy, too. We enjoyed our short stay, especially the comfortable, clean accommodation and the four-poster bed. We also got to meet the owners, who were a lovely couple.

The views here are hard to believe. We’ve stayed several times, first when the place was a hotel with a bar and restaurant. It’s now been made into lovely self-contained apartments, though they’re for sale and only four were left when I posted this. Get in quickly if you want a self-catering weekend before they’re snapped up. You won’t be disappointed.

We spent a week in the C S Lewis Apartment and were sorry to leave. The setting and views were stunning, and the apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. We can’t wait to come back.
