The owners were very friendly and helpful, and I'd recommend staying here. The Cottage sits among trees along the Lynn Road, and it's very quiet at night. It's clean and comfortable, with a small kitchen that has all the things you need. The bathroom is spacious, with a bath, a separate shower and his-and-her sinks. The good-sized bedroom has a comfortable bed, a sun tube and plenty of wardrobe space.

The surrounding area is stunning, with wonderful walks and lovely sea views, and we'll definitely return. My wife and I have stayed at Woodlands before and enjoyed it so much we came back this year. The owners, Steve and Lesley, greeted us like old friends. It's an impressive Victorian house, beautifully presented, and our immaculate room had a lovely view across the valley. Breakfast was a treat: I had the full English, my wife had scrambled eggs and bacon, and both were made individually.

Lesley and Steve were so helpful when I became ill on a day out. I still felt rough at breakfast the next morning, so Lesley called her GP for advice, and Steve checked in with my friend later that evening to see how I was. That was above and beyond. We stayed for a couple of nights in early July. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast had to be ordered from a varied menu the night before, which I assume was a covid measure rather than the usual arrangement. It was very good. They also offered us dinner on our second night, but we weren’t sure when we’d be back, so we declined.

The setting at Woodlands is so peaceful, and the rooms are large with beds that are incredibly comfortable. There are local walks and coastline to explore, and Lesley can point you towards the wild swimming spot. I also treated myself to one of her massages. Steve and Lesley are such friendly hosts. Steve is a brilliant cook, and breakfast was sensational. I can’t wait for him to open 'Steve's Supperclub', a set menu restaurant experience.

The breakfast choices were such a treat, from a traditional English breakfast to smashed avocado on soda bread with cherry tomatoes, or Steve’s real poached eggs on wilted spinach. Foo was fantastic. I stayed in room 6 last week. The guest house was fabulous, with beautiful, immaculately clean rooms, and the drench shower was great. Steve and the lovely Lesley made the stay memorable. I’ll definitely be back soon.
