We came with my family on 3. The family room was pretty standard, with a pull-out single under the double bed and another single you put up, but it was really decent. The hotel was clean and the bed comfy. Breakfast was a box of cornflakes with milk, a pain au chocolat, water and an oat bar. I can’t complain, it was pretty much what I’d expect from a basic breakfast, especially for the price at a small hotel near the beach. There are plenty of cafes if that’s not your thing. Having an m&s downstairs was handy for anything we needed, and there were extra tea, sugar and milk sachets in baskets by reception. The staff were lovely. It was actually alright, thank you :)

The rooms are basic, but have what you need for a quick overnight stop. You’re close to the shops and pubs, and not far from the seafront. There’s 60 minutes of free parking outside for unloading, then you need to move the car. The breakfast at the whetherspoons two minutes away was surprisingly good and very cheap. St Anne's has some nice shops and places to eat, and the front is charming, aside from a few hideous new buildings that house amusements, a cinema and a pool.

Lytham st annes has become a place my partner and I love coming back to. We’re already planning more stays, after four visits this year. It’s a compact, flat little town, so there’s no wandering around aimlessly, and that suits my mobility needs. It’s pretty, clean and old fashioned, with plenty of cafes and pubs, a couple of restaurants among the shops, and lots of places to sit, including some sheltered spots like band stands. There’s loads to keep you busy. The beach is vast, and a clean promenade follows the water with ice cream huts, seating, grassy green spaces, crazy golf, play parks, duck ponds and water features. There’s a small paddling pool for the kids too. The little pier has a lovely cafe, honestly the best cafe, plus a chip shop takeaway, beach shop and ice cream parlour. We spend ages on the two pence slots in the arcade inside. Dogs are welcome on the pier and in the cafe. It’s a quiet, friendly town compared with Blackpool, just 20 minutes away by bus. Our base is Lytham st annes travelodge, a stone’s throw from the beach. The hotel is spotless and the staff are always so welcoming. We bring our little west Highland terrier, and we’re grateful that travelodge has pet friendly rooms. He loves coming to the seaside and running miles on the beach. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who go out of their way to help us settle in. Floki is on first name terms with them, and they fuss over him even when they see us in the street. None of this would be possible without the hotel. It’s our safe place, and the staff make our stays comfortable. Thank you, and we’ll see you soon x

There’s no parking at the hotel, but we used a reasonably priced multi-storey car park not far away. Our first room was a double, even though we’d booked a family room with separate beds. Reception sorted it out easily when we went down. The room we ended up with was large and clean, with everything we needed for the night.

I’ve stayed here lots of times over the years, and it’s always had everything I needed. On my latest visit I was spending time with family who live nearby. All the staff were super friendly and extremely polite. Special thanks to Amanda and Emma, whose helpful, polite manner made my stay even better. They’re a real credit to the business. I’m looking forward to booking again and visiting my family in the north.
