White House Country Inn

I was staying in a nearby house and ended up coming back here a couple more times, first for lunch and then for a beer at the end of the day. The proprietors, two lovely gentlemen, greeted me kindly each time. When I mentioned I'd spent the morning a bit lost, they even gave me directions to the Brecon visitors center. My first meal was an appetizer and a main, though I ordered more than I could eat. The menu was hard to resist. I chose the chef's pie, with light, flaky pastry and a wonderful chicken and leak filling. The homemade sauce was perfect, and the veggie cake on the side went really well with it. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, with cool, eclectic decor and a comfortable feel. I'd happily recommend stopping for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Hope I can return one day.

The place has a busy, quirky antique garden feel, a bit like jumaji, and we liked it. The staff were chatty, friendly and welcoming, and the young gentleman who served us did a fantastic job. Many thanks to him. We all had a wonderful time. The food was brilliant. The lamb burgers were really good and filling, and they took great care with allergies. We had an excellent experience and will definitely come back for a meal or pop in for coffee. Thanks to the staff on duty.

Now we're home from our honeymoon, we wanted to thank Bryan, Adrian, Nick and all the staff for making our wedding weekend so amazing. They went above and beyond to look after us and our guests. The food was delicious, the staff attentive, and our room very comfortable. Everything we asked for was sorted without any fuss, and the grounds are lovely. We can't say enough good things about the White House Country Inn and its owners. We'd definitely recommend this hotel to other guests.

We had another very pleasant meal last night (Nov 23). There’s still a fairly short menu, but it has a good choice, and at present they’re only open Friday and Saturday evenings and for Sunday roast. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, and the service was faultless, all with a smile. The White House has changed quite a bit over the past few years, with new owners, decor, chef and menu. The conservatory restaurant has been transformed, though it’ll be to some people's taste and not others. I still prefer the bar area. The menu is shorter, as with many restaurants post Covid, but still has enough choice. Service was exceptional.
