Anchor Hotel

The seafront setting was lovely, and the food was really good. Service was great too, everyone was so friendly. Thanks!

We’ve been to this lovely little pub quite a few times. The staff are very friendly and it’s dog-friendly too. We often sit outside with a drink and watch the river, and have also eaten inside with our dog several times. We’ve never stayed at the hotel itself.

The weather was cloudy when we visited, so we missed out on the outdoor seating and the view I’d heard about. On a sunny day, I imagine the atmosphere would be even better. The meal itself was a real treat. The Anchor Hotel’s fish and chips had crisp batter and tender, tasty fish, among the best I’ve had in ages. Prices were reasonable for the quality, and the staff were friendly, quick to help and knew the menu well. They made sure we were looked after throughout. The weather took a little away from the visit, but I’d still recommend The Anchor Hotel for a good meal, attentive service and fair prices.

There were flies and sticky tables, and the bar smelled of urine. The hand sanitiser station looked filthy and as if it had been left over from Covid. If that’s what you want in a pub, you’ll find plenty of it at The Anchor.
