The room was spacious, with six beds and lockers, and it was really clean. I stayed one night while walking the Pennine Way, and the location worked perfectly. The staff gave us a friendly, helpful welcome, and the hot shower was lovely and clean. The hostel has everything you might need for a night or a week, including a drying room, kitchen and sofa area to relax in. I had the buffet breakfast the next morning, with both continental and cooked options. Everything I ate was delicious and set me up for the day’s walk. A great stay, and thanks to the amazing staff.

We got there by train and then took the bus to Malham, and the hostel was easy to reach by public transport. The countryside is beautiful, with lots of different walks to choose from. Rooms are a good size and clean, and the shared bathrooms were spotless. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. Such a great trip for the price. We’d love to return and would highly recommend it!

Our guides stayed with us from 8:30am to 8:30pm, and they were fantastic. I recently brought my year 5 class here for a residential at the YHA, doing their geography package with two guides for three days. The children had an amazing time, and the activities were planned and run so well. The YHA accommodation was clean and convenient. The kids had no complaints about the food, which is impressive with 33 ten year olds, and they especially loved breakfast. Staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to meet everyone’s dietary needs. I felt reassured that the children were safe, and the safety precautions were explained thoroughly to staff. Brilliant trip, and we’ve already rebooked. Thank you!

The noise from people moving around and packing upstairs was unbearable, with constant deep bangs and squeaking floorboards. The curtain was too small to block the window light properly and was as dirty as an old tablecloth. The blanket was the narrowest I’ve ever seen. I had to pay £40 instead of £15 for one bed because I showed up and the only space was an empty six bed room. They decided to charge me for a private room, even though I still had to share the toilet and shower. I could’ve slept better in my car for free.

The hostel’s location is great for walking to Malham Cove and other nearby spots, and the staff were very nice and helpful. Honestly, they were the saving grace. The facilities and breakfast were adequate, but parking is very limited, and there are no hooks or shelves in the shower rooms. I got maybe two hours’ sleep at best. The beds were so uncomfortable I could feel my spine or hip bones, depending on how I lay, and they were too short, with my head or feet against the metal bars. I was sharing with people snoring so loudly that even shouting and asking them to turn over didn’t wake them. I left the room at 7am because I couldn’t take it any longer. I was barely able to stay awake driving home the next day, which made the stay quite dangerous. I’d advise paying for somewhere half decent and getting a good night’s sleep, or camping in a tent. Either way, you’ll sleep better than here. Don’t let this place taint your holiday like it did mine.
