We’re already hoping to come back for lambing season next year. We came to Millmoor Farm because it was close to cycling routes we wanted to do, and ended up learning a lot about farm life and bottle-feeding some lambs. Thanks for taking the time to answer all my farming questions. There are loads of lovely walks and trail runs nearby, too. Our cottage was clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen, from utensils and plates to a microwave. We couldn’t have asked for more, and we were very well looked after.

Corn Lodge was warm and well equipped, with comfortable beds and sofas, Freeview TV, and decent WiFi. The farm has plenty of animals to see, which kids will love, and it’s handy for Chester and the Zoo, Shrewsbury, Llangollen, Port Sunlight, and Liverpool. The location was the big letdown. The website photos don’t show that the lodge is attached to a barn with five bulls, opposite another barn full of cows and calves. The smell was terrible when we opened a window, so we couldn’t leave them open, and there were lots of flies because of how close the animals were. One morning the bulls got out and were chasing and kicking each other near the cars and houses. It could have been dangerous if anyone had been outside. The owners never came by to say hello, which felt odd, and we got no response after calling twice. It could have been great, but we left a bit disappointed.

The cottage and beds were warm and cosy, and my children were made to feel part of life on the farm. The hosts couldn’t do enough for us, and our whole family had an incredible, memorable stay in an amazing location. I found the complaints about flies and the smell ridiculous for a working farm. We saw three flies and killed them all, if that helps. The smell comes with the experience. If you want it to smell like Versace, stay in an airport lounge. We’d happily recommend the place and come back. Thanks, Sally and Co x

We’re staying in drovers barn, and it’s really nice. The owners were welcoming, and the kitchen had a lovely surprise waiting for us, some rocky roads :) There are loads of animals around, including donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, and more. The place was easy to find, too.

This was our third stay, and I can see why people keep coming back. The accommodation is clean and cosy, and it’s amazing to be able to wander out and watch lambs being born. Lloyd, Sally-Ann, and Dave are so kind about involving the kids in feeding and other things.
