The pub food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and everyone was welcoming, including the owners’ gorgeous dog, Charlie. The on-site facilities were good, with clean showers and toilets. Our two young children, aged 3 and 4, loved the playground, and there are plenty of walks for dogs too. We’ve just finished a two-night stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived, and we’re looking forward to coming back in the summer.

A proper country pub and a real haven. It’s dog-friendly too, with free treats, a doggy menu and a beautiful riverside walk right beside the campsite. The pub feels homely and friendly, with good food and good ale. The locals are always chatty, just like the sign says: “where you enter as strangers and leave as friends”. One of the best pubs about.

We were hungry, so the four of us popped in when we happened to be passing. I’m so glad we did. My pork belly was the best I’ve ever had, and my husband’s scampi and the other two’s steak and ale pie were all delicious. The puddings were amazing too, and the portions were large. If I lived nearby, I’d be there regularly.

The pub itself is lovely, which makes the experience especially disappointing. Before coming, I called to ask about gluten-free food because my partner has coeliac disease. When we arrived, staff were making fun of how difficult gluten-free customers are, both among themselves and to someone who seemed to be a local talking with the bar staff. My partner was standing there listening, ready to order, and they didn't know. They also tried to tell us their vegan sausages were gluten-free. Only after we asked more questions did they check and realize they weren't. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with allergies.

We spent three nights here with our caravan hooked up to electricity. It's a great little place with everything you need, and the food was the best part. It's all home cooked, even the chips are cut by hand. Such a lovely spot, we'd definitely recommend it. Thank you! cxx
