The Old Lodge

Beth, the wedding planner, made the day run seamlessly. Nothing was too big or too small for her, and she made sure everything was just right. Throughout the weekend, the staff were friendly, approachable and always there to help. We got married here in September 25, and the setting was even more beautiful than we’d imagined. The building and gardens were a big part of why we chose the venue, and the stylish rooms each had their own slightly different look. It’s right in the centre of Malton and easy to get to. We couldn’t recommend the place and its people enough, whether you’re planning afternoon tea, a wedding or just a stay.

A nice place for a night’s stay. There’s building work going on, but that was fine. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant. Some parts feel a little tired, though it was still a good stay.

We met the new owners, who were keen to hear how we’d found the hotel and talk about their plans. The receptionist was also wonderfully helpful when we arrived. The food was great, and we had dinner there on both nights. The whole place had been tastefully decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed staying at the old lodge, with all its history.

The Old Lodge is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Malton town centre, which has plenty to offer. The old building has lots of character and charm, though a couple of areas could do with an upgrade. Staff were friendly throughout. We had a great couple of nights and were upgraded on arrival to a room in the main building with a huge bathroom. We ate at the hotel on our first evening, and the food and service were first rate. The creamy garlic mushrooms and After eight cheesecake were top drawer.
