Mulligans Of Deansgate

Just off Bridge Street near San Carlo, this is one of Manchester’s best bars in my view. There are people dropping in for a Guinness at pretty much any hour. Downstairs has an older pub feel, with limited seats and a bit of a squeeze when it gets busy. Upstairs is much larger, with lots of light, big TVs, and plenty of places to sit. A pint of Guinness is pricey at £8, but it’s busy even off the main street, and I can see why. A really great boozer, especially once the live music starts and the crowd joins in.

It’s a brilliant Irish bar, but the prices are steep for this area, more like Dublin. Guinness is £8 a pint and a vodka shot is £7. What’s that about? We won’t be back.

The live bands are a big part of what makes this pub special. They play every day, mixing familiar crowd favorites with less obvious songs, and the whole place comes alive. You come for more than a drink. It’s warm and welcoming as soon as you walk in, and the staff are friendly and attentive whether you’re just having a quick pint or staying the evening. Great drinks and people, too. I’d call it the best pub in Manchester and a must-visit.

The upstairs has a nice pub layout, with balconies looking over the room. They serve Guinness, Murphy’s, and plenty of other beers. A decent Irish bar, especially when the live music’s on! 🎶
