My room was freezing throughout the stay. The radiator didn’t work, and there was no way to warm the place up. That was just the beginning. I found blood on the bedsheets, which should have been thrown away even if they’d been washed. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable, and the room smelled of mould and dust. I could hear every word from next door through the thin walls and was woken several times overnight. The door wouldn’t lock from the inside, so I wedged a chair behind it just to feel remotely secure. I didn’t feel safe at all. The bathroom tap only gave dangerously hot water, with no cold option, so it was unusable. The shower didn’t drain properly, its door wouldn’t close, and I’m fairly sure staff had used my personal shampoo to refill the shared dispenser. That was incredibly unprofessional. There were toenail clippings on the floor, several trip hazards from badly fitted carpet, and no in-room tea or coffee station, even though it was listed in the booking. The bathroom was shared with other guests too. Outside, the hotel looks awful, with scaffolding that’s clearly been there for months and does nothing for the first impression. Other guests were having problems with lost bookings, which made the place seem unreliable and badly managed. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favour and stay well away. I genuinely regret not leaving as soon as I checked in.

The rooms all use the same door code, so I couldn't feel sure my things were secure. There isn't really a check-in or check-out either: you knock, then give them a code on your phone. Getting to the room means walking through someone's living room while they're sitting there, which is awkward, and you can hear everything through the place. It smelled strongly of weed. Inside, the walls were grimy, the tables had thick dust, and there was leftover rubbish from whoever stayed before. The bed was barely usable, and the carpet and sheets were marked and stained. It's horrendous, and I don't know how they're getting away with it. The name is ironic. Reviews on other booking sites look clearly fake. Expect the worst. I really wouldn't tell anyone to stay here; it doesn't feel safe.

The mirrors were dirty, the place smelled strongly of weed, and there weren't enough appliances. The man who showed us to our rooms seemed unsure what he was doing. This feels totally fake. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We couldn't be sure we'd get a room, and ended up needing a refund through booking.com after they failed to accommodate us. At OYO The UnPleasant House, we arrived and were told a leak meant no room was available. They said it might be ready later if the repair was finished in time. Looking at the place, perhaps we dodged a bullet. For guests: early check-in costs £20 or £30, depending on what they feel like charging. They say you can pay by card, provided your room hasn't sprung a leak and is repaired by 4pm or 5pm.

At 3am I was sent to look for toilet paper in the staff member's private living room, after I asked for more. I also asked for a hairdryer. They texted to say it was sorted, but when I asked the staff member directly several times, he eventually said it was in another room and he couldn't help. The room's door pad had low batteries, and I was stuck outside for about 10 minutes, trying six or more times to get in. When staff came, he said the charge would last another 2-3 weeks. That doesn't seem like a fully charged pad to me. I asked for a refund, but they refused, citing company policy without even acknowledging the dirt. Only the sheets were clean. Dust and old stains covered everything else, and the light fitting had cobwebs. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned either, with hair and dust all over it. Don't book and waste your money.
