It’s not really about the £2, it’s the rude response and unwillingness to help that left such a bad impression. At around 8:00 pm on 9 March, I put £2 into the hostel pool table, but it didn’t work. The receptionist on duty brushed me off, saying the table “does not belong to them” and that I should contact the company myself for a refund. If a machine is inside the hostel, guests should be offered a solution, or at least treated politely. Very poor service and a thoroughly disappointing experience.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the location was brilliant, about a twenty minute walk from the city centre. Staff made us feel welcome and stored our luggage free of charge. Breakfast was unlimited, affordable, convenient and really nice. Manchester YHA exceeded our expectations.

I was travelling solo from Australia for a holiday over the New Year period and had a great stay. The kitchen facilities were good enough, and my room had a practical layout and reasonable storage. The lobby and seating area were clean, cozy and warm, with candles lit for the aroma. Staff were lovely and the coffee was good. Drinks were maybe a little pricey, but the people made it worth it. It had exactly what I needed for a short stay abroad, and I was very happy.

My stay at the Hostel was really good. It’s clean, well organised and nicely located, with good transport and connections nearby. The staff are super nice and helpful, and the food is nice too. The conditions are good for the price. The only drawback was the horrible internet.

The window view really thrilled me, and having an elevator is a gigantic plus. There’s a tremendous main hall, a nice kitchen and such positive, adorable vibes. The staff were so cute! 😊 Clean and welcoming, 5/5, 10/10.
