The good thing is the location, close to town, the bus station and lots of restaurants. I guess it’s okay for one night, but there are some drawbacks. It’s right by a busy street with plenty of restaurants, so there may be noise, especially with the windows open. There was also a £12 cleaning charge and a deposit hold, which I’d never had to deal with on previous bookings. It felt absurd. The room was reasonably clean, though there was an odd smell, maybe from the previous guests.

The flat was clean and well located, but the no visitors rule made the stay miserable. I was turned away when I tried to bring another adult back for less than an hour. It felt intrusive and excessive, and left me feeling ashamed. As a gay man in town for Manchester Pride, I felt personally discriminated against. I don’t think a heterosexual couple would have been treated the same way. I spent the weekend feeling anxious and unwelcome where I was staying. If you’re LGBTQ+ or care about your privacy, I’d choose a hotel.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to minorities. The staff were racist and abusive. They kept asking me the same questions every day for four days before I arrived. When I called that afternoon, on my fifth call in five days, they called me aggressive, cancelled my booking and kept my payment. Thankfully, booking.com stepped in, returned the full payment and made alternative arrangements. Even after that, the staff member involved kept messaging to say I wouldn’t get my deposit back. Vile treatment. You’ll be fine if you don’t sound like you have a foreign accent.

We ended up outside in a foreign country at 5 a.m., with nowhere to put our luggage or rest after a long, exhausting trip. We’d told the property in advance that our flight schedule meant arriving at 3 a.m., and were willing to pay the late check-in fee. The flight was delayed by two hours, completely outside our control. When we called at 5, someone answered, but nobody came to let us in or help, even though we’d made clear we were ready to pay. The lack of basic hospitality, flexibility and professionalism was unacceptable. It was a deeply disappointing first impression of the accommodation.
