Old Trafford Guest House

The only reason I wouldn’t give it just one star is that, after I threw up on the floor, they gave us cleaning spray. I’d been sleeping on the floor because there was urine on my bed, which had a wobbly ladder. The greasy tables looked like they hadn’t been cleaned, either. We arrived an hour early for a layover with my aunt and cousin, and had to wait in a filthy park because they wouldn’t let us in. Once we finally got to the rooms, we found all that. It was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. About 1.06 out of 5, and I would not recommend it.

We’d planned to stay five nights and only managed one. The downstairs room was filthy, with sticky surfaces and electrical sockets hanging dangerously out of the walls. The kitchen had drug abusers in it, and the smell was awful. The mugs were dirty, and there was no cutlery apart from two dirty knives. In the “sanitised room,” there were handprints and dirt marks everywhere, plus artificial grass hanging off a bedroom wall. During the pandemic, I’d have expected more care with cleanliness, but they just don’t seem to care. They agreed to refund us, but we’re still waiting and they now refuse to send the money. This place isn’t fit for guests. It needs sorting out, and the people running it were very unprofessional.

The room stank, the shower leaked, and there was mould, stained pillows and mattress, and damaged curtains. The facilities were disgusting, that’s all I can say. During COVID-19 there were supposed to be proper restrictions and standards, yet builders working on a neighbouring property were allowed to walk in and use the toilet and facilities. They had nothing to do with the guest house. Look at the photos and make up your own mind.

After travelling up for my grandmother’s funeral, all my partner and I wanted was a decent night’s sleep. Instead, people banged on our bedroom windows at 5 in the morning to get into the property. There’s no reception and it’s completely unmanned. When it wasn’t that, guests were coming and going all night. The room was dirty, with short, curly hairs left in the bed once we pulled back the duvet, and the facilities didn’t match what was advertised, including no TV on the wall. We had an awful experience. I’ll never return or recommend it to anyone.
