The Olive Hotel

We spent a few days here for the Cadwell Park Bank Holiday weekend races, and it was ideal for us. The room was clean and compact, with everything we needed. It was checked each day, and the tea, coffee and other supplies were topped up, which was nice. The place is pretty much in the centre of Market Rasen, handy for shopping, eating out and exploring further afield. It’s not too far from the racecourse either, if that’s what you’re here for.

A reasonable place to stay in the middle of Market Rasen. The bed is comfortable, and the staff are accommodating when something goes wrong. The rooms feel airless, though, and the bathroom has no natural light.

After booking another local hotel, I had to leave because it was so bad. I phoned here at 9pm on a Sunday to ask about a room for the night. The owners were pleasant on the phone, and I got the sense I wasn’t the first person to call wanting to get out of that other hotel. The room was fairly priced, tidy and properly equipped, and the shower was nice. I’d definitely come back if I stay in the area again.

For what we paid, it was OK and I’d stay again. It’s ideal for the races and worked well for a one night stay. The room had everything we needed, but there was no breakfast, which was disappointing when it’s attached to a pub. My husband and I are a bit deaf and couldn’t hear the TV because it was set so low. The remote buttons kept sticking, and we had to use both flushes on the toilet.
