All the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, and the rooms were clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. The pub and inn is in the heart of Ramsbury and is owned by the large estate that also owns the local distilley and brewery. As a vegetarian, I found the three menu choices a little dull, though my wife really enjoyed the lamb and the puddings were yummy. I forgot to mention breakfast earlier: I liked it even more than dinner, just right. A good experience.

The food was a real surprise for us as a London couple who eat out often: everything we tried was well done, the menu had plenty of choice and the quality was high. Staff were friendly, attentive and professional without hovering. We booked a last-minute night away from London and had a lovely stay. Our clean, warm room above the pub faced the street, but the area was quiet and noise wasn’t an issue. The modern bathroom had underfloor heating and a great shower with excellent water pressure. The linens were good quality, and the WiFi and heating worked perfectly. It’s an old building, so not everything is uniform, but that’s part of the charm. We’d absolutely come back!

We had a wonderful dinner at The Bell while in the area over Easter. The Scallop Ceviche, Bouillabaisse and Fish and Chips were the standouts, and several of us thought it was the best fish and chips we’d had. The staff were so friendly. We live too far away to become regulars, which is a shame. I’d recommend it to anyone.

I’ve stayed at The Bell twice for work, and both visits were brilliant. The staff were excellent, friendly and professional, and quick to sort out any issues. We ate in the restaurant every night; the chef-manager was around checking that diners were happy, and the food was delicious and great value. The wine list was exceptional. They also packed a huge lunch for us while we were working locally, much more than the sandwich I’d expected. I can’t rate the place highly enough and will definitely return for work or a holiday.

The rooms are lovely, very quiet, and breakfast is incredible. This was our second stay at The Bell, and it was just as nice as we remembered. We arrived late, but Zach went out of his way to make sure there was still food and wine for us, even though it was after closing and he clearly should have been heading home. Such a kind welcome after travelling. Josh was brilliant too. Coming from London, it’s the kind of place that reminds you what real hospitality feels like. The whole team goes the extra mile. Thanks to Zach, Josh and everyone, we’ll be back.
