There’s so much to explore once you get past the quirky locals at the bar. The pub just keeps going, with more rooms, two pagodas and a beer garden as long as six neighbouring terraced houses. It’s huge. The front bar has plenty of old features, and the pints are good.

We hadn’t planned to stop here on our trip across the UK, but it turned into a great stay. The staff were really friendly, the rooms were clean and very reasonably priced. We didn’t eat, though the drinks were good and fairly priced too.

The menu had plenty of options for my coeliac partner, which was great. We popped in for lunch when the pub seemed quiet, but waited a good 40 minutes for our order. The food was worth the wait, though, with generous portions and lots of flavour.

After a poor experience at a pub down the road, some of our ladies football team came here today and were made to feel very welcome. The two bar staff were lovely and even managed our last-minute food orders. The food was lovely, and it’s a beautiful pub. We really appreciated how well the staff looked after us. We’ll be back when our fixture is rescheduled! 😊
