The vegan Sunday lunch was the best I’ve had in a pub. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, and it came with Quorn steaks in amazing gravy, a huge Yorkshire pudding and lovely cauliflower cheese. Service was quick and friendly. Our group also had the lamb and roast chicken, and everyone said they were delicious. We had no room for dessert, but we’ll return when we’re back in the area.

Our first Sunday lunch at the Lamb was today, 7/12/25. The food was hot and plentiful, with generous portions, and the service was both quick and friendly. We’ll certainly be back soon. David F SN8

The room was filthy, a biohazard, really. After 24 years in the army and sleeping in compounds in Iraq and Afghanistan, I’ve never seen anything like it. The carpet looked as if it had been there since the pub was built in the 18th century and hadn’t been vacuumed since. There were none of the usual basics: no hair dryer, cups for the kettle and drinks, shower gel or hand gel. Noise was fine while the pub was open, but after closing it got louder and louder. The owners’ teenagers were shouting in the street, and it sounded like the BFG was having a 45-minute shouting conversation under the bed. We were told breakfast started at 0830 and said we’d come at 0900, but nobody showed up. I had to pay for breakfast at another shop in town, even though breakfast at the Lamb Inn was supposed to be included in the stay. Guantanamo Bay prisoners would turn their noses up at this place. The high reviews are clearly being left by the owners’ friends or family. I’ll be speaking to Hotels.Com for a full refund.

We had a great time both nights. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean and breakfast was delicious. The owner and her daughter greeted us warmly after flight delays stretched our travel time past 24 hours. They asked if we wanted food or a drink; we were full but definitely wanted a drink. We stayed for a few hours, chatting, while our daughter played with the owner’s daughter and the friendly dogs. There’s a barker, but he’s a harmless fossil. The atmosphere and conversation were lovely. Just remember this is a pub stay, with a vibe of its own, not the Taj Mahal. If you’re not a night owl or don’t like cool live music, Saturday may not suit you. We’ll definitely be back!

Shaunie was the best, and Becky made us an amazing breakfast. Everyone was so nice, and we had a blast staying here. Highly recommend if you’re not a miserable wretch and enjoy supporting a local family business.
