We were a party of four, and each of us had dietary requirements. We’d arranged these in advance, and the staff already knew about them, but they still came to double check before service began. Every dish was beautifully crafted and presented, and the flavours and textures were a cacophony. The food was absolutely wonderful, exquisite doesn’t cover it. Our host Lee was phenomenal, knew everything, had a superb personality and was very, very funny. He really made our night. The lovely ladies serving us knew their stuff too and explained each dish before setting it in front of us. We’ve tried tasting menus at Marcus Waering in London and Goldsborough Hall, Morth Yorkshire, and both were fantastic, but this was our favourite. Huge congratulations to the chef and kitchen team. I was very sorry to hear Lee was leaving for a new role in the Cotswolds, as he made the experience unforgettable. Thank you. We’ll be back to try the new menu when it’s introduced. We found this enchanting place with magical gardens overlooking the River Derwent. It’s dog friendly, with lovely dog walks nearby and handy access to Bakewell. The pretty Lime stone building has great rooms, helpful staff, a superb chef and brilliant car parking. Lee and " Hils" are always happy to help. Like us, you’ll definitely put this hotel on your repeat list!

The food was well done, though we only had time for starters and mains. It was a cold night, so stopping for a drink before dinner felt especially nice, and being able to order from the bar was a thoughtful touch. The atmosphere and service were excellent.

We only meant to pop in for a quick pint while passing, but the place was so lovely and full of character that we stayed for Sunday lunch. The food and service were fantastic, just as they should be. We’ll be back later this year to stay at the hotel for a few days. Well done to the staff.

The meals were a highlight: we had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea, and everything was tasty and beautifully presented. It’s a cosy, luxurious place with a real sense of history, and the staff were helpful and happy to go out of their way to make things right. Definitely recommend it for a getaway.
