That cosy old pub feel really stood out, and the building itself has a lot of character. On Easter Sunday, though, the roast was the star: tender meat, especially the pork, crisp potatoes, and honey-glazed carrots and parsnips cooked just right. The creamy cauliflower cheese brought it all together. One of the best roast dinners I’ve had. Adele, I think that was her name, looked after us with a smile and was really attentive. The bar staff and service were great, and we felt so well treated that leaving a nice tip came easily. If you’re after somewhere to eat with family or friends, give the rose and crown a go. Go for lunch!

The homemade chips and batter were fresh, and the fish was cooked just right. Ethan the chef clearly knows how to get fresh fish in batter right, since overcooking can spoil this traditional favourite. It was delicious!

Andrew was brilliant and made our stop even nicer. We popped in while passing with my wife and son, and it turned out to be a lovely pub. My son gave both his kids roast and the sticky toffee pudding 10/10. Would highly recommend.

Parking might be limited when it's busy, but the prices are reasonable and the staff and atmosphere were pleasant. This was my first meal here, and I’d happily recommend it. We all enjoyed lunch. Two of us had cheesecake and agreed it was really good. The mains came piping hot and quickly, with generous portions and nice presentation. My friends had roast pork, while I went for the halloumi /mushroom burger and chips, with coleslaw on the side. A very pleasant young man served us. I only got one photo because we tucked into the mains and I forgot!

We sat by the fire for a lovely pre Xmas meal. Andrew was brilliant, kind and attentive. They took particular care of the gluten free diner and my Mum, who prefers smaller portions. Thanks to all the staff for being so kind. Perfect!
