The Sunday dinner was generous, with plenty of meat and Yorkshire puddings so big I’d love to know the secret. The food was homemade and well worth the price, and there’s a good choice for kids too. Staff were friendly, and even though it was busy, they found us a table when we turned up without booking. We did have to leave the dog in the car because no dog-friendly tables were free, but that was no hardship. We’ll be back.

We’ve been dropping in here for years, and our return for Sunday lunch was a good choice. The portions were huge and tasty, and we were glad we skipped starters because we only just finished the mains. The bar and restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were lovely.

The chunky chips came in a massive portion, and the Hawkstone lager and IPA were both cold and fresh. We first found the pub after a sunny walk at the Balam Lake country park, then came back a week later after visiting the Cragside. The staff and other visitors were friendly, and the music outside added a nice touch to the atmosphere. We’re based in Blyth, but with so many lovely places around this part of the Northumberland, it’s worth the drive and we’ll be back soon.

We stumbled on this place by chance and were glad we did. The beer was good quality, with a strong food selection too. We tried the lamb chops special, then finished with sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. Great job.

The children’s roast chicken dinner was enormous, and the adults’ regular roasts were generous too. The three-meat roast was something I’d never seen before. Everything was lovely and hot, and the service was friendly. We came for a family dinner and will definitely bring the family back.
