Whicham Hall

The room was clean and a great size, with a little courtyard and sheep in a paddock visible through the bathroom window. The bed was comfy, the bath was perfect after a long hike, and the mountains looked lovely from bed. Megan was really kind, breakfast was great, and she pointed us to some good pubs. We had dinner at the Old Kings Head in Broughton-in-Furness, a 10 minute drive away, and it was very good. We stayed three nights with our dog for my thirty second birthday. There are lovely walks nearby, including Silecroft beach, about a 5 minute drive, and Millom park, around 10 minutes away. Black Coombe is a great walk, though challenging, about a 2 minute drive away. We also drove about 50 minutes to Scafell Pike for a sunrise hike. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. I’d absolutely stay again and most definitely recommend it.

Megan made us feel extremely welcome, and the breakfast was tasty and cooked perfectly. We had such a peaceful, lovely last break before our baby is due, and I couldn’t fault the experience. Our dogs loved having outdoor access to the enclosed paddock, where they could roam freely. The room had everything we needed and more, with some thoughtful individual touches. The bath was lovely and there was always plenty of hot water. It’s comfortable and spacious, and we’ll certainly come back once our little one is here.

Megan was incredibly kind and helpful when I broke my ankle in a walking accident during the holiday. She made sure we and our cats, who were on holiday with us too, were as okay as possible. I can’t thank her enough. It’s a gorgeous B&B in a beautiful, peaceful location. The breakfast was perfectly cooked with high quality ingredients, and the accommodation felt luxurious while still cosy and homely. One of the best places we’ve stayed, and I’d highly recommend it.

Megan and Peter were fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. They even showed us around the farm, which was really cool. It was great seeing a working farm, Jib the sheep dog in action, and the cows having breakfast. We really enjoyed the stay. The room had lots of character, the surroundings were peaceful, and the views of the fells were lovely. Breakfast was tasty and the portions were generous. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
